A complete re-structure and re-design for the online presence of the Scout Association’s outdoor activity centres. Creating a modern, highly functional site that was able to meet the needs of a diverse audience, including scouts, schools, and other users.
Scout Activity Centres recently re-branded as Scout Adventures, their online presence was no longer fit for purpose in a competitive market place. The new site had to function as a key information resource to generate excitement and improve engagement. The core challenge for the User Experience was to ensure that any site visitor was able to find the information they needed among the broad range of sites, services and activities on offer.
Research and visitor feedback indicated a strong difference between the needs of the two primary audiences; schools and scouts. Workshops were used to generate insight from the stakeholders at The Scout Association and research conducted with users to understand their objectives and priorities.
It was rapidly identified that the goals for the site could best be achieved by reflecting that experience and providing a flavour of what it would be like to be at Scout Adventures; informative, helpful, supportive, enjoyable.
Based on these requirements an appropriate structure was created to deliver the wide range of content in an accessible way across desktop and mobile. Regular user testing sessions were used to ensure that the intent for the experience was being achieved.
The new site for Scout Adventures reflects the purpose of The Scout Association and that heritage informs and enhances the experience they provide visitors. The User Experience ensures that audiences can easily find the relevant content within an interface design which brought the heritage and ethos of Scout Adventures to the forefront.
Delivered through a User Interface design which supports the User Experience strategy, bringing the heritage and ethos of Scout Adventures to the forefront through the use of their fantastic new branding.
