In 2022, we launched an initiative to recognise a team member who embodies a selected MiC value.
This person is chosen each year by their peers and represents the best of our team’s values. This year’s award was all about creating a place to belong through building a positive team spirit and creating a place for people to be their best. Celebrating this team member helps to reinforce our shared values and strengthens the bonds within our team.
The winner for 2023 was our Senior Strategist, Megan. We had a conversation with Megan to understand the driving forces behind her.
Sum up your 2022 in one sentence
Full of lots of exciting new challenges, hard work, and fun with the team.
What has been the most challenging project of 2023?
We’ve had a great mix of projects across the course of last year which enabled me to be challenged in different ways. Alongside our director Sarah, I facilitated my first in-person training session for a group of entrepreneurs at a really exciting incubator which definitely got me out of my comfort zone. We’ve also completed some very interesting projects which required upskilling in technical understanding, presenting a different type of challenge but also really rewarding seeing the end outcome come to fruition.
How do you approach a normal day?
Usually my hour before work always starts the same way – a cup of tea, breakfast and writing my to do list! Over the past year I’ve gotten really into a system of categorising and prioritising my to do list, this also extends to blocking out time in my calendar to complete each task. I find this approach really helps my focus and to keep my mind clear to work on the task at hand.
What inspires you to be who you are every day?
It may sound cliché, but the rest of the MiC team! We all support and motivate each other to take on any challenge.
What are you looking forward to in 2024?
2024 will be my 30th year, so I think it’s going to be a great year ahead all round! At the end of 2023 we started some really exciting research and strategy projects so I’m looking forward to those developing and getting into the nitty gritty of outcomes.
